If you’ve got some extra time this holiday weekend, make sure that you’ve got your home ready for the Indiana winter weather that we have coming.

Cover your outdoor furniture and store the cushions in a dry area – Indiana winters can be tough on items left exposed to the weather. Make the most of your investment on by covering or moving outdoor items to areas with limited exposure to wind, snow, and ice.

Store away water hoses and shut off exterior faucets – Cycles of freezing and thawing water can damage hoses and faucets. It’s best to complete this task earlier rather than later.

Check your batteries – Test your smoke alarms and make sure that you have a supply of batteries for flashlights in case of a winter storm.

Clear out space for coats, boots, and winter sports gear – If your closets and storage areas are overflowing it might be time for a dumpster rental. Check out our recent Donation vs Dumpster article for some help in determining what to donate and what to dispose of.

If you find that a dumpster rental might come in handy for your Indiana winter prep, give us a call at 317-590-1973. Or learn more about our dumpster options on our info page.
